Dance of the Butterflies

April 23, 2012

I received a new how to draw manga book this week and am having a blast thinking through the characters and how to translate them to food. I’m still stuck on eyes. I might need to do a study of cartoon eyes in food!

Cheese sandwiches assembled into a dancing cutie, decorated with cheese and fruit leather.

I finished the lunch with hummus butterflies, cucumber and carrot sticks for dipping and fruit.

Cora loved our Tree Hugger cutie from the other day, so I tried to turn her into a super hero

Our super hero cutie is a cheese sandwich decorated with fruit leather and more cheese. The Earth in the distance is a smushed up piece of bread. Super Tree Hugger needs some work, her eyes are kinda freaky.

The lunch is finished off with hummus and whole wheat pretzels, star fruit salad and berries and coconut yogurt for dipping.

Today I am participating in a St Patrick’s Day Bento Hop with some really amazing bento bloggers. We decided to have the hop a little early so we can help anyone looking for lunch ideas later this week.

Cream cheese and cucumber shamrock tea sandwich, fruit rainbow and a pot of goldfish at the end of the rainbow 🙂

I highly encourage you to check the whole hop out, starting with Obento Mamma. There are some great ideas and a whole lot of cuteness in there!
