Mom’s Day Off

May 13, 2012

Today I am participating in a Mother’s Day themed bento blog hop, sorta. In honor of Mother’s Day, we are all taking the day off and leaving the lunch making to the kids and/or our partners. The hop officially starts mid morning on Monday. It’s a great lesson in how much our kids pick up from watching us, so don’t miss it. These lunches are great!

To help ‘encourage’ Cora to participate, I ordered dinosaur cookie cutters for the occasion. It worked 🙂

Cora’s Lunch – pretty cute!

When they were done, I interviewed Cora about her lunch:

Cora can you tell me about making your lunch today with Daddy?
What kind of lunch did you make?

Dinosaurs made out of sandwiches. I used two sandwiches and fruit butterflies and broccoli trees. (Note from the editor: The bears are cinnamon apple muffins cut outs, I might need to swap a couple pieces out with whole wheat pretzels to bring down the sugar level a bit)

Can you tell me what you need to make a healthy lunch?

Carrots, hummus, some egg and a sandwich and fruit and broccoli!

Did you use all those things in your lunch?

Ummm I did the fruit part but I didn’t use all of that stuff.

Is it still healthy?

I think so. I did two sandwiches and I got the broccoli in there.

Did Daddy help? How?

Yes! By helping me and making the last stuff (Note from the editor: Cora abandoned the project midway through. D did a great job wrapping it up!). He was the one that asked me the question which cutter to use, and if I wanted to do butterflies or a bear or something else and he did that stuff. Now turn the show back on.

…………………….

And there you have it! Don’t forget to hop on through to see what transpired at Food, Family, Fun. and have a Happy Mother’s Day!

The sandwiches are cheese. Originally they were just cheese and bread but then Daddy thought to ask what holds them together 🙂 So now they have mayo and mustard too
